Merrill Anderson and his Harley Davidson hill climb bike.

I recently purchased this old press photo.  Not sure if it was ever published anywhere.  I think it must also be new to the internet.  Back of the photo indicates that Merrill suffered a broken rib and other injuries on this run.  The event was put on by the Hawkeye Motor Club in Ford Iowa.  Date stamped on back is Sept 1 1926

Excelsior hill climber tank.

Cool piece of history.  Interesting combo of Excelsior tank with Harley colors and letters.

Old photo album.

I bought an old photo album on Ebay.  It came from Ypsilanti Michigan.  In it were the normal pictures of babies, pets, friends and family.  To my surprise it also contained a post card of Napoli Italy from 1939.  Strange coincidence since I was just there a few weeks ago.  It also contained a great picture of Lovall Pegg on his Harley.  I' guessing the two pictures at the top are of the Muskegon Michigan hill climb.

All from the same photo album.  More to come.

Hill climb images.

Not sure the top bike is a purpose built hill climb bike.  May be a boardtrack bike converted.  It is the earliest example I have seen of a bike sponsored by someone other than the bike manufacture.
